About the TAPE Gallery

The mission of TAPE Gallery is to present the most interesting phenomena of the current world art. We are interested above all in such artistic approaches that vividly relate to the most urgent problems of the contemporary times but which also display a progressive, innovative for visual arts potential. We take care to investigate intercultural contexts and bring them closer to the viewers, therefore in our actions we are trying to appreciate still too often marginalized non-European art. We want to build a multi-directional dialogue in which diversity and complexity will become an excuse for mutual rapprochement, and not to hostility. Moreover, we desire our institution to have an inclusive, open character accessible to everyone. Therefore, with the aid of our actions, we are trying to vividly resist all exclusive attitudes and support art propagating the narration of equality.

The area of activities of TAPE Gallery embraces above all temporary, realized by prominent British and foreign curators, expositions with a problematic, retrospective or overview character, gathering both objects belonging to local and international art. Additionally, we organize a number of events and workshops directed to people of various age groups. On the occasion of each of our initiatives, we also prepare a range of accompanying events, such as curatorial tours, film shows, concerts or lectures by recognized specialists.

Since the moment of its foundation, TAPE Gallery has been involved in the creation of its own collection of works embracing paintings, graphics, photographs, sculptures, as well as objects, installations and realizations from the sphere of new media. The gathered collections distinguish themselves not only with the diversity of forms but also with the abundance of the themes discussed. The newest initiative of the institution consists in preparing a permanent exposition presenting a wide range of works collected during the years, which would allow not only for displaying multidimensional artistic interests of TAPE Gallery, but would also present a thorough overview of changes that over the decades took place in national and international contemporary art.

As a part of its activities, the Gallery organizes:

• Exhibitions
• Events
• Art & Artists
• Artistic workshops
• Concerts

Exhibitions may be visited only individually. Until further notice group tours are not possible. Guided tour service is temporarily suspended.
